who can stand?
"Sin is the dare of God's justice, the rape of his mercy, the jeer of his patience, the slight of his power and the contempt of his love." --John Bunyan

where's that box?
I try not to post anything thought provoking on this blog--my recent entries prove that. But I recently ran across this quote in my texbook for Mission in the City the class I'm taking at Westminster. The quote is by Harvie Conn, the guy who started the emphasis on urban missions at WTS.

"How do you change, not simply selfish people, but a systemic structure built around selfishness? The long-standing problem with for evangelicals is that we have privatized the gospel; we see sin as a purely indvidual problem. And as we approach sinful systems by changing individuals alone, we miss the 'holistic character' of the social structures."

What do you think, should we only fight sin on a personal/private basis, or do we attack "sinful systems" as well?
