How do you start a blog? Don't know.
My blog philosophy is still in its infancy and I want to leave room for it to morph and evolve. But I know one of the reasons for this blog. Growing up in an inner-city church has given me a desire to spend my life ministering in the inner-city. I'm challenged by the difficulty and excited at the opportunities of sharing the gospel in America's inner-cities. But another facet of the city has recently grabbed my attention. Two weeks ago an elderly Hispanic lady visited our church. Even though it was her first time, she seemed to really enjoy coming--which is amazing because she didn't speak a word of English. This past week was our church's VBS. On Tuesday night a Muslim lady, dressed in her burka, brought her three kids and sat through most of the program. She left when the preaching started. We don't know who invited her or why she came. These two incidents raise a probing question: If a Hispanic lady can sit through a service she can't understand and if a Muslim lady brings her children uninvited to a Protestant church, what would happen if we actually had services in their languages?
